Welcoming four new researchers to Multispecies Mutualisms
As we mark one year since Multispecies Mutualisms began, we’re delighted to welcome four new researchers to the project team.
September marks an important milestone for the project. Over the past year, we’ve been building the foundations of our research, developing our interdisciplinary collaborations, launching our website and beginning conversations with communities interested in human–animal relationships. Now, as we enter our second year, we’re excited to welcome four new Postdoctoral Research Associates who will help take the project into its next phase.
Our new Research Associates bring expertise from across the arts and social sciences, adding to the interdisciplinary nature of the project. Over the next three years, they will develop their own research while working collaboratively with colleagues across Multispecies Mutualisms. We hope that by bringing these different perspectives together will go beyond simply combining each discipline and will generate new ideas, questions and possibilities that could not emerge from any one perspective alone.
Dr Guillem Rubio-Ramon is a more-than-human geographer and political ecologist exploring the connections between animal, human and environmental justice, with a particular interest in multispecies wellbeing.
Dr Maythe Han is an anthrozoologist, ethnographer, and artist whose interdisciplinary work explores more-than-human kinship and human-animal relationships, with a particular focus on how health and wellbeing are shaped through equine-assisted therapeutic practices
Dr Kate Goldie is a more-than-human geographer exploring care, ethics and human-animal relations, with a focus on mutualisms between humans and dogs in hypoallergenic dog breeding and ownership.
Dr Dominic O’Key is a literary scholar working across animal studies, postcolonial studies and the environmental humanities, exploring how literature and culture shape our relationships with other animals.
